We're very happy to announce that the Yarn public beta is now live.
After a lot of hard work, yarn.fm is now live in public beta. We started working on Yarn back in February this year and have spent the past few months fine tuning our data collection processes and working on the Yarn brand. It's still very early days, and the site is rough around the edges, but we're really happy with where we are.
Here's a little background on Yarn, and what we're trying to achieve:
Yarn is a podcast search and discovery engine with over 260 thousand podcasts and 14 million episodes. It's currently available for the web and will soon be available for iOS and Android. The team is based in Brooklyn, New York.
Our mission is to build the largest collection of on-demand podcast and radio content in the world, and provide the best possible listening experience.
Yarn's technology is able to make deep semantic connections between all of the podcasts it collects. Understanding how podcasts relate to each other will allow us provide incredibly accurate recommendations and a deeply personalized listening experience.
On average, 30,000 new podcast episodes are added Yarn each day. We're building tools that will guide listeners to the content that matches their tastes, and provide publishers with a platform to promote their podcasts.
The Yarn team is:
- Phil Jeffs (me!) — Product & Engineering
- Crystal Ginn — Community & Partnerships
- Frederik Delmotte — Brand & Design
We're releasing updates, fixes, and enhancements on a daily basis, so keep checking back!
